Starting with the Jan 11th class.

They will be offering 777 and 787 FO in SFO, EWR and DCA.

Also 757/767, Airbus, and 737 is almost every base we fly them.

Seems like new hires will have a lot of choices in 2022 after having 1,200 vacancies. There won’t be any direct Captain hires, despite the unfilled bids because the contract prohibits it. Many of the May 2021 hires will be eligible to start bidding Captain in the Summer of 2022 after they get off probation.

There were 8 777 FOs offered in this week’s new hire class. Also shocked to see how many 756 and Airbus positions offered. Probably just matching training capacity.

You are not going to go to MEL on reserve. You are not going to go to MEL until you are in the top 20% of the base.

Good to know. Thanks

But you will go to EWR, a lot. So there's that.

What's wrong with EWR? Nice downtown layover or on field hotel if a short layover. decent 2 day trip usually.

Hotel is nice. Location sucks. Takes 1.5-2 to get there depending on time of day which is not a great use of 16 hour layover time. That’s after you’ve waited however long for the gate to clear because the flight before you was supposed to push 25 minutes ago but was waiting on rampers. BTW you are now also waiting on rampers because they can’t work 2 flights in a row. At least that’s my conclusion based on what I see at EWR.

What’s the plan to bring back more 777s from the desert and how could that impact new hire slots going forward? How many more coming back this year?

Something should really be done regarding global reserve if we're going to force new hires into these seats. They'll be seat locked in that equipment in a role that has a ton of vacancies because so few in the company are willing to take it. That isn't right.

How often are reserves used on 77/78?
