I can't start a new thread yet(new user permissions) but this might be somewhat relevant to the conversation. Does anyone have any perspective on the NB schedules at United compared to Delta? I see lots of frustration on the Delta forum regarding fatiguing schedules, reroutes, pilot morale, etc but not as much on the United forum. Just curious if the same issues are occurring at United on the narrow body trips. Thanks.

I left 40% seniority on the 320 to bid 95ish% seniority on the 350 because of schedules were so bad. And i commute. Commuting to WB reserve flying long haul is less strain on my body and brain than the crap i was having to do on the 320.
When bidding: Bad trip mix? Low credit trips? Uncommutable trips? Other? On the line: crazy reassignments? Extensions and delays? Crappy ground logistics (vans, hotels etc)? Other? |

Many narrow body categories have gotten less commutable over the last few years. The pairings are full of four+ leg days. Lots of trips have super long duty periods three out of four days with a 30 hour overnight thrown in so the trip is still unproductive. Overnights that aren’t 30 hours have gotten much shorter. Many min rest layovers. Reserve levels (even on wide bodies) are lower than they used to be so schedule manipulation is much more difficult to almost impossible. Only positive on narrow body right now (if you consider this a positive) is there a plethora of green slips to be had all the way to the last guy on the category.

Other? typical bus flying would be 5-6 am report, fly to atlanta, do a memphis turn, then fly to chicago for an 11-12 hour overnight. Rinse and repeat for 4 days with a 2-3 leg day tossed in and maybe a longer overnight. Uncommutable on the back end too. Since the 88 went away the other fleets are picking up a lot of the Atlanta out and back hour longish flights. |
