Curios question about WB and NB, are WB planes the only one that fly to places like Guam, Brazil, Europe, etc?

In order... no... yes... kind of. Guam is a 737 base. When serviced from somewhere else, I believe it's only WBs. Brazil I believe is all 777/787 right now, but SA will also see 757/767 and even 737s to Columbia. Europe is serviced by 757/767/777/787. 757 is obviously not a WB and 767 is well below 777/787 pay. There's talk of using the Guppy and 321 on some near Europe. Those rumors have been floating around for as long as I've been here, but I think it's a little more serious now.

Thanks for this. As someone who would one day love to be at UAL it’s interesting to see what routes have NB as at 39 years old I’ll never see WB captain getting into flying this late in life. However, it’s great to hear I wouldn’t be limited to flying domestic 24/7/365 either.

Domestic flying is actually pretty decent. Fatigue after a pairing is rare, you can always drink the water, and you never cross more than 3 time zones. Long haul flying isn’t for everyone. But you would have that option at UAL.

The 73 will be servicing the Azores starting in May out of EWR

Just to clarify (probably not needed) only the 767 flies IAH-GIG, IAH-SCL and IAH-LIM.

What makes you think you wouldn’t make widebody Captain if you are hired at age 39? Widebody Captain is not a 26+ year upgrade!

We have people here who thought the same way. After 9/11, a large recession, 2 furloughs, a merger, and a pandemic, they are just now making NB captain after 20+ years with the company. When they were hired they would have thought that WB captain isn’t a 26 year upgrade either, now they’ll never see it.
