Agreed. It’s an open door for them
to push wide open later.

Exactly. Next contract cycle will be a 10% raise in exchange for expanding the use of non-seniority instructors. Cycle after that we get a 20% B-plan for even more expansion.

Next thing you know, we are in a serious downturn that guts our contract, yet TK is still magically full of non-United pilots doing the instructing.

Ding ding ding!!!

Yeah, and they weren’t going to use Field Standby either

^^THIS^^

We have hired over 5thousand pilots since the merger. What most of those pilots don't know is that FSB was something we Legacy Pilots did not have before C2012 and when questioned at one of the Road Shows, our own union stated-
"They'll never use it"

Same when they said "We didn't raise the 76-3 pay as those airplanes are leaving and we didn't want to waste negotiation capital on them"..
Hmmmm

Fly Safe, Fly Professionally and Fly the Contract
Always

How is using 65+ guys in the sim scope concession? If anything it gives them another pathway vs being booted out after hitting 65.

Our contract requires that our sim instructors be on the seniority list. A huge concession if we gave that up. And opens the door to other threats. It's treasonous for the MEC to even consider giving that up.

1-B Scope
The Pilots and flight instructors on the Seniority List (the “United Pilots,” “United pilots,” “Company Pilots,” or “Company pilots”) shall have the sole and exclusive right to perform, train, and be trained to perform Company Flying and operate Company Aircraft in accordance with the terms and conditions of this agreement or any other applicable agreement or agreements between the Company and the Association (together, the “Agreement”).

It allows them to staff the position with non seniority-list pilots. They're currently paid WB FO rates. Guess who gets furloughed before captains, my dear fellow birthing pilot. This makes furlough 1000 times easier for our benevolent masters just like RJ scope could potentially allow mainline to furlough while regionals hire. Furlough should be costly. This makes it far less costly.

Using non list pilots as instructors takes a job from a list pilot.
Regional pilots flying mainline routes took jobs from list pilots.

This isn’t hard to figure out

This is exactly the reason. The big three realized how long it takes to stop the train and move it in reverse when your instructors are being furloughed/placed into non-bid categories. This will allow them to downsize much faster and make furloughs more viable.

You cannot POSSIBLY be serious--not if you're an actual UAL pilot with more than 4 weeks on property. If you are, god help us all...
