Thr concept of Add Pay was introduced to LUAL pilots in our merger CBA. I see it having a place in our contracts but it has gotten way out of control - even without this TA. Every single staffing problem the company has can be fixed with Add Pay. WE showed them that and they learned. Now they want (and we agree!!) to paper over more problems with Add Pay. We did this to ourselves. I even hear lots of us comment on reserve changes based on how it will affect ability to get Add pay?! WTF have we become? We should be moving AWAY from Add Pay and investing in the CORE parts of our contract. Ask yourself what kind of scheduling practices will get you agitated enough to demand change? Those irritants that used to drive a pilot group to militancy are gone....sold for 1.5 hours.
The entire premise of this TA is flawed because WE are flawed as a union. It'll take years to fix this.

Even worse is that we give up QOL issues (like 0500 show for a 6am departure on day 1 rsv) for some add pay here and there. Has the MEC and NC forgotten how hard it is to get back QOL protections? This TA puts an HR of add pay above actual QOL. SMH

It's called the gamification of the professional pilot profession. Instead of meaningful work rules, base pay, retirement, etc.....we will do almost anything for the extra SRM dollar. If SRM and all of these economic penalties are meant to disincentive the company then why do they persist and thrive? This TA is proof that we Add Pay is all that we seem to be motivated for now.
