Default Informal polling of pilots about the T/A

In operations yesterday here’s what I heard in regards to the TA;

Senior 787 Captain within several years of retirement “I haven’t been on reserve in over 30 years so I don’t care and with the economy getting ready to tank I’m a yes vote.”

Mid seniority 320 Captain “I already voted no on that turd.”

Several F/O’s of moderate seniority “Need to see the road shows before we decide.”

My just off probation F/O soon to be retired LC guard guy “Im a yes vote because this is just a retirement job for me so it doesn’t really matter.”

Just a small sampling of the reality of what people on the line are saying. And a shining example of why we shouldn’t hire retired Colonels.

Note for all of you retired colonels who read this and your panties are starting to twist. The winky face means it’s a joke. However I do grow tired of people who come here and treat this job like a Disney cruise knowing they are only here for a short time.

Just a heads up that the echo chamber which is APC may not be the reality of what’s happening on the line. Keep educating your crews folks. We need to shoot this thing down!

That’s the scariest statement in your summation. And the reason that I retired from the military 5 minutes after I was eligible

Every single person at my unit at United is a no vote, as is every AD retiree that was at my last unit (about 6 of them). So I guess there is variation but Ive only ran into TK people and one other Captain that was at all in favor of this turd.

Hopefully those in favor are in the minority.

Default Divisive

Now isn’t the time to stereotype and be divisive.

I don’t plan on ever bidding back to reserve, but I remember commuting to reserve and wouldn’t vote that burden onto our current reserves for a 9% raise.

All of my former military buddies I keep in touch with are firm no votes.

100% this, before I read any thing else I saw that removal of the 10AM duty protection for day 1 reserve and my gut just dropped. I only sat reserve for 1ish month. I bid to avoid reserve and hope to never sit it again. However this rule change alone made me a no, because I know all to well that one day I could possibly be sitting reserve again despite my best choices and would hate this job if I kept losing what few days off reserve get for this bull****. I have alot of friends starting out here and I wouldn't wish this on any one.

Dude had to have been former Navy. The AF guys, Marines, and even the Army..., are smarter than that.
