22-12 Vacancy

The latest vacancy is out. These stood out:
25 IAH & ORD 737 CAs
29 756 LAX CAs
Tons of IAH, DEN, ORD slots for FOs, guppy & bus

Should be a good one for the coast commuters!

Also, 45 SFO 777 F/O slots.

...so now you know where the bottom guys of each of the next 5-6 classes will be based at.

Are new hires eligible to bid in the vacancy? If so, are new hires eligible to only swap bases on the vacancy or can new hires swap planes and bases? Confused about when the seat lock begins, if it's day 1 of basic indoc or the first day of IFT.

TIA!

Yes they can. Generally speaking, the company has allowed new hires to bid down as long as they haven't started training on their originally-assigned aircraft yet.

It's day 1 unless people are getting preferential treatment. We had multiple guys try to switch during the first week of indoc when the last bid was out and they we're told No over and over again.

We had guys in my class ask for the same thing and, to the best of my knowledge, all of them were told yes. This was less than six months ago. Who knows? Guess it can't hurt to try.

Maybe depends on the close date of the vacancy. If it closes after IFT then no, if it closes before then yes?

As you have been told, yes they can. Be VERY thankful the TA wasn’t passed. In the TA another huge give was that your freeze starts at award. Essentially locking you in from bidding down in subsequent bids even if you hadn’t started training.

it’s all about training capacity. The equipment choices are lined up with sim availability, OE backlog etc.

but it doesn’t hurt to ask
