I can see the case for taking the early upgrade if you are willing to choose money over control of your schedule. Probably a good plan would be to be a NB CA a couple years and using the money to pay off debt or invest, and then you can be a WB FO. Although I doubt many do this since once they taste the CA money, it will be hard to become an FO again imho (golden handcuffs).
. However, the senior WB FO life is pretty sweet compared to the gnarly NB schedules I was getting. I just came in from overseas - 14 hour duty day, I slept for about 4 hours of it, and now I’m off for the next 9 days. Bottom line: Choices are good. UAL has plenty of them. |

I did that! Got tired of working so much so downbid to WB FO. I did save a lot as a CA, though. I reached 415(c) limits every year and have about $50,000 in my RHA.

Only 20-25% of pilots are in reserve at any time… most of the focus should be on LH improvements IMO… but definitely some RSV rules that need drastic improvement.

100% of pilots will be on reserve at some time.
The company should not be able to roll days, period. But they can ask for 100% pp. Plus day off restoration, late pay, and reassignment pay. All SC/FSB are 5 hour credit. Max assignable 5 w/o consent. Aggressive pick ups have additional 5 hours credit. Plenty of W-2 chasers with uniforms in car ready to help out. Golfers can stay home for min guarantee. |

with that same logic we should really only worry about NB lineholders. After all there are far fewer WB pilots. Why waste negotiation capital in them?

The goal should be to get reserve rules in the contract just right whereas choosing reserve/line is not much of a change in QOL or money. Then senior pilots bid Reserve as well making lines more prevalent, or like in some DAL categories, required for junior pilots.

Guilty of what? These are reserve improvement recommendations.
