I was a commuter for 9 months... sucked. I transferred to a domicile near my home and life is great and global reserve is not a problem.

I wish people would stop the narrative the Global isn’t that bad. If you’re a positive person that’s awesome, I too look for the bright spot in situations. That said global reserve is BS. Work days are work days, days off should be days off. Global reserve going away (amount other criteria) is a redline for me in our next contract. FS and SC vs line holders seeing an increase in reassignment has some flexibility in how the MEC/NC address it, but Global reserve needs to end.

guess you should not bid global reserve... problem solved!

I can’t speak for the 756, but on real WB’s global can really suck even as a local. When you bid reserve specifically to get weekends off and find yourself rolled 3 out 4 of those weekends so they can keep some guy on SC for 4 more hours, yeah that is a BIG Fing problem…

Surprisingly I got awarded this at EWR. Didn't think I would, since I'm a 2016 hire, and was not on a single one of the snapshots. Yep, I'll be on reserve for a while (5 years is my guess). But I live within an hour of the parking lot, all the kids are grown and out of the house. No grandkids yet, and my woodworking hobby can be done anytime. The wife likes going on trips with me, and these trips are IMO the best in the system. Obviously one person's trash is another's treasure... for me this is an awesome deal that I did not anticipate holding for a few more years...So I'm pretty stoked. If our Reserve QOL improves on the next contract, then it is an even better deal.

Hope you wife likes MCO,LAS, LAX, and SFO because that is all you will see.

I was on 777 for five years… living in domicile. Like I said earlier your QoL will be based on whether you need specific days off… if you do then don’t bid it and stay on the NB. If you don’t care when you work then it can be very beneficial if priority is work less and make more. I make a $hit ton of money sitting at home and playing golf with my phone in my pocket… life’s good for my situation.

He will see plenty of LHR as well. Summer will bring him/her some other Europe layovers on reserve but mostly LHR

Guess my point is that global reserve shouldn’t mean 6 guaranteed days off per month no matter commuter or local. If you are content with that I’m not sorry to say you are in a massive minority…
