Three of my favorite corporate aviation quotes from 'leaders' in the departments:

"Safety is secondary to the company mission."

"If you want to write up airplanes, go back to the military or airlines."

"Just bring it home, we'll fix it when you get here." That was said multiple times about everything from hydraulic accumulators with zero precharge to jetpipe-pylon overheat lights that would illuminate in flight. No, I didn't just 'bring it home' on any of those occasions.

Having said all that, I am all for reaching out to those communities and younger folk that may not have been exposed to aviation and encouraging them to look into it. As someone with no family in aviation coming from a lower-middle income blue-collar family, I struggled to find my way but my motivation was such that I wasn't going to let anyone stop me.

I am not about utilizing race, sex, or any other segregating discriminator to hire (or not hire!) people. The jet doesn't care about any of that...it only respects your knowledge, skills and abilities. When the crap hits the fan and it's time to actually earn our pay, we owe it to the flying public to be the best we can be.

I hope we can hold the line on our training, OE, and checking elsewise we may all be looking for jobs should a major calamity strike that potentially could have been avoided by having people with the right skills driving the bus.

My favorite corporate experience was when I was hassled for not continuing on in a Lear with a rudder boost that wouldn’t check. No thanks.

Not that it matters, but it was intended very tongue-in-cheek. I found the ban hilarious in that context

pffft….mcPickle is one of the biggest everlasting TOOLS I’ve ever encountered. 64 inches of PURE douchery. But….The Pipe……was awesome.

FWIW……the “crack pipe” is a euphemism for a defunct website catering to a defunct airline.

64"??? Did he get taller? I never had a problem with the guy. Flew together a few times, always seemed like a stand up dude to me.

Long live the pipe.
