Default “Industry Leading”

On 1/23/23 Mr. Kirby was quoted as saying:

“Our pay rates are going to always be… going to be at the top of the industry.”

On 11/10/22 Mr. Quigley was quoted as saying:

an “industry leading labor agreement” was the company’s goal.

How serious are they?

Not sure, but my union is figuring it out for me.

The new union leadership seems to be doing a fine job holding the line so far, and I completely support them and their efforts. I believe the union and the pilots will have a good idea of how serious SK and BQ are by the end of the week.

Kirby would gladly pay the top rate in the industry if we’d keep our current book regarding work rules. His concern is total cost of the deal and our ask for work rule improvements and soft money add considerable cost. I’m happy to see a MEC that is apparently firm in demanding dramatic improvements in all areas, not just rates.

Honestly they are saving his @$$. He doesn’t seem to realize that par-for-industry pay & lousy work rules will crush his United Next plan.

He gets it, but he’s trying to get the cheapest deal that he can. It’s his job.

Let's say, for example, the company and the union come to an agreement within the end of next month. What's the sequence of events, and a rough timeline, to follow?
Just curious, I'm new to all of this.

I'm a Delta guy but as a reference our AIP was announced on 12/2/22 and the contract signed on 3/2/23 or exactly 90 days. I'm not sure that can be much faster if at all.
