I tend to agree with Sunvox. That being said I don’t care FUPM. Nothing less then DAL in any area and more in a few. If not now then when!

Let’s see… mediation in the fall maybe, then about another six months to an agreement of some kind, then about 2 months for voting. So about a year, give or take?

this has been what I’ve been realistically expecting but captains on the line swear that within a month we will have a contract!

Every month I get the same speech

Ok fine I can live with that if it’s truly industry leading. You took
my comment, if not now then when completely out of context. It was referring to if not during this contract cycle then when. I’ve been hearing will get them next time for decades!

Ive always held the expectation of Easter to end of April at the earliest to be honest if all goes well. But it wouldn’t surprise me if it took longer.

There’s a lot of folks with mismanaged expectations who thought early March considering we just finally sorted out Union leadership issues.

Tumi TA and recalls pushed the timeline to the right. We should have been in mediation a long time ago…… I am with you. Mediation by early fall if negotiations do not see much progress though the summer.

I am curious of the timeline that MEC has in mind for requesting Mediation…

Again . . . zero reason for the company to take a half billion dollar charge for a new agreement with ALPA in Q1 if their expectation was no contract soon. ALPA has given them a cost and the company put it in the ledger.

I'll lay my bet now that we will have an AIP before June 30th.

Ask yourself this-
Did Delta Management come out and lower profit forecast back in Dec for their 4th quarter, when they knew that an AIP/TA was imminent ? What about now, since they HAVE a new PWA (their term for a UPA)?
How about Alaska? JetBlue? Hawaiian?

There is a point in doing this- and it's partly to scare the pilot group. Hmm.. where have I seen THAT before.
(United will/may furlough up to 5000 pilots if we don't agree to the Covid LOA)

Keep in mind, we have heard over and over again how we were/are ready for the snap back as we kept all our pilots qualified.
Yet, somehow.. while we were suppose to be ready, special and ahead of everyone we have trailed Delta in quarterly and yearly profits.
Now, we are taking a loss on the "future" Pilot Contract?!

Also, keep in mind that by doing this they are already setting themselves up for a lower Yearly profit for 2023 which means a lower Profit Sharing Check for all come next year.
The good that I see is that they ACKNOWLEDGE that they need to get us a new UPA, and it will cost them.
When you look at what Delta management/Delta ALPA stated, they raised their bar by 7.2 Billion over 4 years.
When you look at where WE are starting, I expect a 9-10 Billion deal to equal/exceed theirs. Like it or not, we started further behind than Delta and even a 7.2 Billion deal would not catch up to them, let alone exceed them.

We ALL want a Strong, Successful Company. But we also EXPECT to be treated with Dignity & Respect that (supposedly) comes with our Profession.
No Matter What-
Stay Professional, Stay Safe and Fly the Contract

Interesting read...

Keep in mind, Delta spoke at this conference too.. how "If anyone is looking for Weakness, Don't look at Delta"...

Every time Motch posts…I always think of that South Park episode where the people love the smell of their own farts so much that the whole area is covered with a “smug” layer.

not throwing stones, seems like a good guy, but a bit…..wordy…..and places a premium on his own opinion.

Been wondering that since Jan 2019. I certainly prefer the sunnier view, but I have little faith in achieving a $9B (or whatever the number is to bring our contracts to parity in pay and QWOL) without a drawn out fight. Any number that exceeds Delta's contractual value of $7.2B in a 10-figure way is bound to be met with some significant resistance.
