What will the posters say at the job fairs now? Worst legacy, but still better than Frontier?
The next step will be matching low costs carrier crew uniforms. Then the real United next, uneducated pilots flying low cost carrier pay rates charging legacy ticket prices. That’s Scotty boys actual definition of “competitive”. |

There was never a randomness this past year to United's hiring department bizarrely skipping past plenty of qualified candidates over these no degree, low time, zero to hero ULCC/ACMI scrubs. They don’t want new hire pilots on property who know their worth.

What is wrong with an ACMI pilot without a degree exactly? I’m one of them and sure know my worth. The level of arrogance, incredible.
Congratulations you nailed Scotty boys wish list for a pilot new hire. Now he just needs a couple more thousand for easy future yes votes. |

Just out of curiosity what’s your total time? Any left seat time?
And that's for United, Delta, and AA.... |

I think folks that came up quickly know their worth maybe even more than previous gens. They have arrived in a fast moving and high paying environment. Expectations are different when you get here after having enjoyed the high pay of an RJ, or the great work rules of the LCCs (particularly spirit RE schedule flex), or the platinum elite DHr life of the ACMIs. When you get here it's like stepping back into the lost decade WRT work rules.
Don't write off the newly hired as Kool aid drinkers. I've seen the most apathy and Stockholm syndrome in my small corner of our pilot group with those who were early in their careers during the post 9/11 disaster this industry endured. And perhaps it's a well-earned apathy as they've been lied to more, seen more clown CEOs come and go, seen more plans fall through etc. Bottom line, we cant be infighting still while it's contract season lol, we can fight amongst ourselves later! Wear the lanyard and show up! |
