The Titan sub was never checked to see if it was up to standard because of its "innovation," OceanGate said in 2019. The sub features a carbon fiber hull that had never been used on submersibles before, according to the "Unsung Science" podcast.

In the podcast episode, Pogue said the sub's build — which includes "MacGyvered" ceiling lights and an Xbox controller for navigating the vessel — as well as the safety waiver, gave him cause for concern.

In a 2019 interview, Rush lamented "obscenely safe" diving security regulations, although he said he understood the rules.

Imagine if Musk/Bezos had 4/5 of those FAA hazardous attitudes?

Or you can just google the terms “Stockton 50 year old white guys” and pick the source you choose.

It’s a sad/tragic event. But get over yourself, it’s hard to feel sympathy for someone that stated something so galactically stupid.

When you’re done with that;

And after that;

I know, in your usual DEI/virtue signaling style, you’ll have a contrite response, save it. We’ll have to agree to disagree.

You wanna wag your finger and flame me, jump into this thread and do it with everyone there’s also;

https://www.airlinepilotforums.com/s...e-missing.html

What you’re saying is akin to NOT speak of someone that tried to climb Everest without properly training/equipping themselves, conning people to go with them, then having the WRONG outcome.

You seem upset.

Honestly, I was only responding very specifically to your snarky comment about him possibly having purchased sim time from TK- which is all this thread was about to that point. I have read close to zero else about this guy so anything more you’re assigning to me is purely your own subtext.

For me personally, the idea that he could be responsible for multiple deaths through willful negligence is far more damning than the fact that he once spoke unfawningly of old white guys (per forum rules I’m allowed one contrite virtue signal per post), so I might lead with that next time. But I wasn’t trying to defend him against anything more than purchasing a type rating course when he was young.

Where was my post SPECIFICALLY about that?

See, ya gotta find it amusing. It was for

Stockton seems to be the very epitome of privileged old white guy and I’ll add spoiled rotten. A man who won’t be told no, who can’t take criticism and one who has always gotten his way. He even weaponized DEI to make sure there were no impediments to the use of his submersible toy. A spoilt rich kid simply can’t have experienced deep sea engineers, safety experts and seasoned submariners telling him that his toy is a death trap, therefore no old white guys allowed!

The authoritarian left is all about regime and its reign of power being unquestioned and maintained at all costs, truth be damned. It’ll be interesting to see how this one is covered, and smoothed over since the chief perpetrator was of the evil oppressor class.

Am I going crazy? There are exactly three posts that precede yours. They are about nothing other than a news story that Rush had a type rating from UAL & speculation that he had purchased training time as a non-employee. (Nothing about race; nothing about criminal negligence.) Your response (post #4): “wow, how inspirational…” My assumption was that your post was germane to the rest of the thread. (Which, again, to that point was only about the type rating.) If that is incorrect, I apologize. I don’t understand, but I apologize.

As to your keeping a log of my past posts, I didn’t realize I was talking to such a loyal fan. If you send me a printout of a few of your favorites with a prepaid self-addressed envelope, I will sign it for you.

It takes a lot of mental gymnastics to equate the "authoritarian left" with being radically against government regulations and pro "let the market decide!", but you managed to make that leap. Impressive!!!

1) There’s a saying about assumptions

2) Someone could have posted “Stockton had silver hair”, I would have responded the same. Someone could posted “Stockton? Isn’t that in CA?” I would have posted the same.

But since you were ignorant of the man, maybe some SA on the front end of this and what an idiot he was would have helped you out?

It seems you are irritated?

Maybe my postings are to irritate forum patrons such as yourself? You think you’re the first to think of that concept?

Think about it, maybe you’ll find it amusing….

Perhaps not, but given his disregard for safety and his bragging about "braking the rules" and not following industry best practices.......Think of the lives that were saved by him NOT being an airline pilot.

So you’ve been holding onto that one for what, months, waiting to turn it around on me? How totally not weird.

I suppose it was presumptuous of me to assume that your comments were related to the thread. In the future I will try to retain a mental catalogue of all your opinions and comment history as you seem to have done with me so that I can interpret everything you say without the need for context. Should we formalize this new union with a ceremony, or do you want to just do promise rings or something?
