Default United physical test?

Howdy all

So finishing up the app and at the end it says I’ll have a physical by a doc of their choice.

I have a 1st class medical from a Sr AME with zero limitations

What’s this all about?

Is this like a OSHA test where you lift a milk carton and they make sure a face mask can seal, or are they going to attempt to give me a new flight physical or some sort?

Thanks

I think that’s referring to the “whiz quiz”. Nothing to worry about.

Wasn’t all that long ago that every major and some regionals had a very extensive physical, well beyond a Class 1, as part of the interview process. AMR was particularly famous for their “astronaut physical”.

A typical airline interview physical included a full panel of bloodwork, EKG, chest x-ray, urinalysis, hearing, vision, etc. Basically the works.

Just from a certificate protection standpoint that’s a no go for me

Are the big 3 still doing these physicals, or is it just a pee test?

During the interview they make you sign an NDA and then have you do a 3 part obstacle course where only the top 5 get CJOs then the rest have to compete in a flight engineer scenario using the DC-8 panel.

IN all seriousness there is no “physical” other than DOT drug test and having a first class medical.

Are they still doing the simulated water boarding?

Don't you ever do a physical outside your FAA medical? Probably not smart. There's very little these days that can't be handled with a special issuance, and a lot of these are something you really want to know about so they can be managed before it gets worse, and that will wind up worse for you.

There’s no need to talk this guy in circles.

There is no physical involved in the hiring process.

Yes I do, and real ones using real evidence based medicine

But I don’t intertwine things with the FAA, if you get some more experience and see how the sausage is made with at FAA aeromedical you’ll understand

For real medical issues with the FAA it’s best to get a handle and all the info before involving the FAA at any level
