Both in broad and specific terms, how is reserve at United under the new contract? Seems like there have been various improvements, but as someone about to be new to the 121 world and with a few different CJOs, it would be great to read about what has changed (better or worse) and how such things impact someone on reserve as an FO or eventual junior CA.

Trying to learn more as well. How would this work? You can essentially say no and just get paid to chill at home?

Most of the big reserve changes don't get implemented til next August. Some of the pay items have already kicked in though, and getting paid for every unused and late build short call has been nice. I credited over 90 hours last month and went to the airport one time.

So everything starts as long call? Is there a limit to short call conversions?

we’ll new contract some forms of reserve can’t be converted. You get paid for short call now is my understanding, much more than you were before

Right, but there IS a limit for how many times you can be converted (assuming you dont get one of the non-convertable lines)?

I made an insane amount doing nothing on reserve last month. 4:17 pay per reserve day times 18 days + all short calls unused + late built short calls + under 2 hour reports gave me a great paycheck. They might own you, but at least you get paid crazy for it. Living in base, it didn't crimp my lifestile beyond what reserve typically did.

From: 18%er but I’ll enforce UPA23 to the last period.

1) How long did it take for the add pay to appear for the unused and especially late build? It's my first time on reserve this month under the new stuff so just curious.
2) Did you have to chase said add pay down or did they actually do what they were supposed to do and put it in your pay register unprompted?
