It’s not about the type as much as it’s working for a mainline type operation imo that gives an edge. Required? Def not.

I'm currently at OO and have a CJO with a major but will most likely not be equipped in a Boeing or Airbus so I am second guessing if jumping ship to here is a good decision and a closer step to the mainlines.
Is your friend a non U.S. pilot? That's often true overseas. In the U.S. the larger operators don't care if you have time in type.
