Yeah, I agree. I still do not like the fact that days off are rollable. But if done right, one can avoid having days rolled. I've only had 2 instances where I had days rolled this entire year..

I was rolled quite a bit. A couple of times in the one day bucket they would give everyone above short call. At least now if it happens I'll get paid extra for it.

I did it for several years and never got rolled once. Always bid 6 day blocks on purpose. Strategery

Yup this was the key except. I did get rolled once even with a 6 day block....

This. I don't work. People think I exaggerate. I do not. I sit Global Reserve, pick up as many short calls as I can, and do not go in. Months go by. Been rolled once, for one day.

The pilots who complain about Global Reserve seem to fall into one of three categories:
1) Pilots who do not work here
2) Pilots who are not ON Global Reserve
3) Very junior pilots with an unfavorable commute to short call who bid off the fleet as soon as they can.

what were the details that contributed to that? I would always avoid picking up a SC on day 1 of 6 because that pushes your start time from 0001 to whatever the SC start is. In many cases that could give the company an extra 18-21 hours.

Your list is a shack. I always laugh when people complain but then admit they aren't a global reserve. I would average about 1 trip/month. After awhile I just got tired of being hit with the seat that was exactly opposite of my body clock(made for a much harder trip), plus the unpredictability of life planning with owing 18 days. And, as a Lh you can really kill it on the credit hours. Gobs of money if you have seniority in the right seat of a WB.

Well, let’s hope this is true. I’m senior in seat and bid reserve for January. With 1/3 of the base on reserve, and looking at reserve calendars for December, I think I’ve been working too much.

Even if you do not pick up on Day 1 of 6, it doesn’t protect you from scheduling tagging you with SC. Scheduling always tag 5 and 6 day silo folks with SC on Day 1…. At least pre-contract days….

My instance happened back on the first day of the October bid period. I had 6 days on ending on Sep 29th. I APU a 3-day London 24-26 evening departure on the 24th. I had 3 days of RSV followed on 27-29 then 30th RDO then back on RSV.

I got rolled into a 4-day GRU from 27-30th. With a morning arrival on the 30th. Luckily it happened the after UPA 23 DOS because I got 5:15 add pay for day off interruption….
