Can you elaborate on that a bit more? I was under the impression NB CA reserve in any base was pretty tough. Are the reserve CA in LAS not being untilized as much as the other bases?

Since ThumbsUp helpfully posted a link to the SSC report I had a look. Unfortunately, the Reserve Utilization page doesn't break out individual bases... except Guam (737 GCA and GFO). It's the only base smaller than LAS, and its reserve utilization is lower than the rest of the 737 community (roughly 30% vs. %50). So, still can't say for sure... but I do think LAS 737 reserve utilization would be lower than average. I'd expect it to be fairly high in the summertime though when all bases are stretched thin.

It's kinda hard to move H6 trips into GUM though. LAS would be an easy H6 landing spot for SFO and LAX for sure when they don't have coverage for trips and probably DEN as well.

Speaking of prolonged reserve times for junior CAs, have the reserve scheduling provisions in UPA 23 20-k made a big difference for QOL, or have enough of them been implemented yet to even tell?

I have noticed in my base that Short Calls have decreased significantly. But within the last couple weeks, late build short calls have increased.

Airport Standby doesn’t exist.

Credit wise I’ve been doing very well on reserve as a Junior Capt. Next month I surprisingly got a line and it might actually be taking a pay cut being a line holder vs being on reserve and working the system.

QOL hit comes from working weekends and holidays but that comes with the territory with being a Junior Captain.

What do you mean by H6? I think I understand what you’re getting at, but haven’t heard that term before.

That’s another base’s open flying moved to another base. Ex: EWR original pairing made for a IAD pilot to fill. See UPA 20-H-6. You’ll also see H6 in the pairing number at the new base.

True that. I've seen LAX reserves get used for SFO trips and such. Trick is that LAS reserves can only be realistically used to cover trips originating out of hubs (and only when those hubs are already sucking wind). However, LAS reserves are highly unlikely to get used to cover trips that come open outside of hubs since they'd have to double DH into position (e.g. someone calls in sick while on a SEA layover). Realistically, I think LAS reserves would get used more than GUM reserves but I can't imagine they'd be used any more than reserves located at hubs.

LAS reserves have a little more protection, like you mentioned with the double DH to position...

In Unity...
