LAS Base

Hey all, wife and I are considering a move to Vegas sometime in the future.

Just curious to know how senior this base is and how long it would take a NH to hold LAS. Also fleet type at that base?

737 only, super junior, within a vacancy or two if not in indoc.

Mainly junior because, well, it's Vegas.

2/3 of those based in LAS are commuters because of how junior it is and it being an easier commute than say SLC to SFO. Most of the UAL guys actually living in LAS commute to SFO for WB flying. LAS will stay junior but won't grow much anytime soon so long as they have problems getting NB CAs to bid SFO. Not a bad place to sit reserve as a junior CA.

Can you elaborate on that a bit more? I was under the impression NB CA reserve in any base was pretty tough. Are the reserve CA in LAS not being untilized as much as the other bases?

Well, being a super junior reserve CA can definitely suck for a commuter. But, assuming the OP is living in base I'm assuming he'd enjoy the large pay bump. Being a small base, I think a reserve CA would not see as much utilization as one in a hub (LAS has about 30-35 UAL flights a day vs. hundreds in a hub). But I can't say that for sure. I think the monthly SSC report includes utilization stats.

being in Reserve while living in base can be extremely lucrative and easy…..our reserve rules are written for living in base and if you do they are pretty good.

ALPA website under the SSC. It’s a garbage site to fish through, but here is the most recent.
