Does living close to a base significantly improve your QoL or ability to grab trips with add pay on reserve? Currently looking for a home and planning on buying in a neighborhood that averages 8 mins to ORD driving time.

Living in base boosts your QOL wildly. I would speculate that it probably boosts your income by 20% based on the ability to pick up premium pay. It will vary by fleet seat and time of year though.

Just to clarify…. You can’t pickup trips with add pay on reserve. There are other ways to make money on reserve, but what we call premium pay attached to trips isn’t in that bucket.

how realistic would it be for someone junior to occasionally move those blocks around to have a consecutive 9 days off in a row at the end of the month? I do that every once in a while at my current regional to take advantage of the non rev benefits, I am hoping I could still do this at United.

In the quiet months it can happen, busier months (summer) would come down to your bidding skills / seniority
