It sounds like most of your questions have been answered, but I'll echo, we have plenty of commuters coming from the land of the rising sun, so it's definitely do-able. No chance of getting it in training right now but it's not a senior base. Go SFO 737 in training (trust me, it'll be available) and then transfer a year or less in. Guam is pretty amazing. If you haven't been before, it's like Hawaii but less developed, and with a very positive and unique vibe. You might actually decide you want to live there; I often do but my wife is based in Hawaii so it's more of a lustful idea than reality for me. If you're a reservist or a veteran, Guam is even better; let me know if you are and I can recommend some things there and on Saipan over DM. Guam still reminds me in a lot of ways of parts of the US in the 1990's. They still play Seinfeld reruns in local establishments and until the Big New Yorker came back last year Guam had the only pizza huts where it was a permanent menu fixture/item. It's not the land of milk and honey but it's a great place, and you won't get knived going to the wrong beach.

Guam would be the better bet.. Hawaii has the second-highest cost of living in the US.

Also thinking of coming to UA and going to GUM eventually. Is the yellow fever vaccine mandatory in order for company to base you there? Would want to commute from Saipan, is that easily done? Can anyone speak about the bidding for those who are GUM based? I've heard that you can consolidate a lot of time off (I prefer a lot of time on and off). My partner is also a pilot, so we'd make this move together. Are the odds pretty good that we could end up with closely matching schedules? TIA and safe flying to all
