IAH’s very own, the anti-vax, “don’t make me fly a plane with gay koalas on it,” hardcore ultra-MAGA, SW is sharing her vast knowledge and expertise. She is not helping the profession with her rhetoric and jumping on the DEI blaming bandwagon regarding last weeks accident. It’s a bit funny that she fails to mention her nefarious record in the many accolades that are included about her at the end of the article. While she does have certain valid points, she is doing more harm than good with this article. Kirby NEVER said the airline will ensure to hire 50% women and people of color. It's a favorite misleading statement by many on the right. He said the airline needed 10,000 pilots over the next decade (when he said it). Of that they hope to hire 5,000 through the Aviate program, including the Aviate Academy in AZ. Of those, the goal was to hire 50% women, POC and other underrepresented groups. So for those bad at basic math that's 2,500 or 25% not 5,000. The idea that as a woman she can look at herself in the mirror and hold the opinion that other women or minorities are not qualified to be where she is is an insult and a disgrace. She alone should know the effort and hardwork she had to put in to overcome the stereotypes about women in aviation and other traditional male fields. I have never occupied the flight deck with any pilot of any gender, race, sexual orientation, etc who I didn't think was fully qualified and capable to do their jobs. It disgusts me the obsession by certain media and segments of our population that seem to ignore all the training and checking required to get to this point. Doesn't matter the profession. When are we going to take a step back and say, maybe just maybe, we are all human and mistakes happen. From the OR to the flight deck to the c-suite, humans make judgement or other errors. Hopefully they get caught and prevented, esp as pilots, but history has proven that to not be the case and I think aviation of today with a vast diversity is much safer than decades past of only straight white men. She doesn't exactly explain that from her high and mighty soap box. |
Obviously from the article we have our share of crazies. We don’t need to borrow deltas nutters posting over here. Sorry full up on crazy please move along to the next airline.

UA does more RJ flying than AA/DL dude.. UA has no wholly owned regional so they make less profit through RJ flying and rely on companies like Mesa.. UA is finally taking a hint from DL/AA that mainline pilots should be doing majority of the flying.
Between the ongoing Boeing issues and UA’s historic reliance on RJ flying that status quo is unlikely to change |

So you think having your airline own other airlines and making more money off that outsourcing is a good thing? Got it.
UA is forced to contract out all their RJ flying to infamous groups like Mesa/CommuteAir because management is cheap. Hence, why UA regionals are the worst to work at. On top of that, the UA flow is offered to non-ALPA pilots. Large slap in the face to the RJ ALPA guys that UA -contracts- to do their vast amount of RJ flying So, to sum it up UA is the master of outsourcing domestic flying (where all airlines make bulk of their cash) and lose the benefit of having an in-house regional.. |

UA made a mistake by not owning their regional. Regionals are a necessary evil.
