That’s your opinion bucko . I know of several senior guys that still plan on wearing their leather come this fall . I really doubt if anyone will give 2 sh!tz .
They have bigger fish to fry . that hill they will die on is leather jackets and they don’t care how senior or self important you are. the company HATES the leather jackets and wants them gone. Good luck proving your point. |
I just have to wonder what the uniform committee was thinking. Does a 3-in-1 windbreaker look more professional than an iconic pilot's leather jacket?

The company dictates the uniform. But yes to question 2, in their view.

Thanks for quoting the contract. The company still decides the uniform. While we have input through the uniform committee, it’s pretty limited. Just talk to someone on the committee. Since very few people care about the leather jacket relative to the 18k pilots, it wasn’t worth any capital.

waiting for Ebay to populate with a bunch of UAL leather jackets

If the uniform committee is abdicating their contractual right to sign off on uniform changes, that's a separate problem.

They really don’t though that’s the thing. I accept YOU do and you are most welcome to look as sharp as you wish. When someone looks extremely sharp however, I start wondering if they have spent too much time in front of the mirror and NOT enough time in front of their EFB. I’ve said this before: there is a sizable chunk of the East Asian and Western European public that does place a lot of emphasis airline crew uniform and appearance standards, however this is still mostly focused on inflight. This makes sense right they spend far more time visible and interacting with the passengers than we do…..it’s mostly female, and while subjective are generally thought to be more attractive and younger. Think about it, you can easily pick out a Singapore Airlines Flight Attendant by their sarong, or the Cathay Red skirts…..but what color are their pilots blazers?………..you aren’t really sure are you…….thats kind of my point.
