Magenta line/FD cripples. It tells them to turn left and they do, despite knowing the fix is ahead of to the right and probably visible on the ND.

Not following the FD guidance? It happens often - wrong fix entered, wrong heading, wrong direction of turn. It's not a once in a lifetime event. It's at least monthly that the MCP gets mis-set. Most guys don't just chase the FD's, they realize 'that's not what we want to do' and either they, or the PM, call it out OR the PM is already fixing it. "People usually fly it as the guy corrects what's wrong." Yes, if a more benign event. If you know it's wrong why continue flying the FD's? This was a 'big one' that rang a lot of bells. |

Often times I fly through the FD…. Sometimes it’s on… But I am on the guppy and only flown Boeings and CRJs, I can’t comment on the Airbus FD. |
