Well, this isn't a good look.

Our guys were departing 1R on the Trukn, but instead of turning right, turned left...which placed them right in front of a Skywest RJ, which was departing 1L on the Stikk. 😵‍💫

Probably be a few months before we get to read the FSI findings...

Serious lack of situational awareness, no excuse really.

Magenta line/FD cripples. It tells them to turn left and they do, despite knowing the fix is ahead of to the right and probably visible on the ND.

When was the last time you flew opposite of the FD? Try that in the sim? People usually fly it as the guy correct what’s wrong.

Since when do we do a left turn off of rwy 01R at SFO?

Not following the FD guidance? It happens often - wrong fix entered, wrong heading, wrong direction of turn. It's not a once in a lifetime event. It's at least monthly that the MCP gets mis-set. Most guys don't just chase the FD's, they realize 'that's not what we want to do' and either they, or the PM, call it out OR the PM is already fixing it.

"People usually fly it as the guy corrects what's wrong." Yes, if a more benign event. If you know it's wrong why continue flying the FD's? This was a 'big one' that rang a lot of bells.

Today actually, the FD was trying to have me pitch down while in VNAV SPD when I was holding my speed with my pitch attitude… The FD eventually came up to my pitch attitude I was holding…

Often times I fly through the FD…. Sometimes it’s on… But I am on the guppy and only flown Boeings and CRJs, I can’t comment on the Airbus FD.

I often fly past the FD as well because it sometimes is not the best or even reliable guidance for a few moments. I announce purposefully doing whatever for whatever and have the PM fix it if it’s egregious for too long. Again, guppy perspective but assumed this works in the bus..

I feel like I had to do this occasionally in the Embraer but for less often…

Yes, but that’s anticipated ism that we know of. I bet that left turn caught the pilots by surprised, they became confused and went with it. A total loss of SA and it la easy to rely on the automation.

Of course all this is a total guess, but if I was a betting man…

??Nooo! Disconnect and hand fly until the PM fixes it, ask for heading if you need it.
”Tower we lost the FMS request a heading.”

I agree IF you have SA. I believe the pilots lost SA in this situation which is the point of why they followed the FD

Wrong SID/RWY or not the most glaring loss of SA is Turing into another aircraft. Skywest launched almost at the same time off of 1L. How can you not realize another aircraft is right behind you?
