So sort of…… but there is no specific “Runway Change Checklist” accomplished as a READ and DO that some carriers have in their NORMAL checklist card. In short you just have to re do the before take off checklist if you already did it once applying the Runway/Sid change procedure.
If the runway, SID, or conditions that affect takeoff performance change comply with RUNWAY/SID change PROCEDURE ( which is not really a read and do either) ……then ACCOMPLISH/ RE ACCOMPLOSH the before takeoff checklist. Error trapping in this area could (not necessarily have to) be improved. As a technique on the Airbus at least, many crews load the secondary, plus secondary Perf page for foreseeable runway change assignments, that way…..the runway Change procedure is accomplished by one button push as opposed to 11-15. This right here….. But like you Airbus folks, a lot of us Guppy folks pull data for a secondary runway and have it preloaded in the FMS in the event of a runway change. That way when the runway is loaded the T/O data will have an Accept/Reject prompt. I usually will have FOs run through that guide if we get change. |

Do you guys not have to do a checklist when you get a runway change at United?

It's priceless that the old guys on the LEPF/EPAS/whatever Age 67 page are trying to blame the FO for this incident.
Apparently, in their advanced decline, these old guys forgot the captain is ultimately responsible for making sure the FMS is properly programmed. Sorry United guys didn't mean to derail. Glad nothing happened other than a learning experience for all of us |

I’m thankful if/when a CA finds an error I made; just like they have been the few times I’ve found theirs. 99% of cockpit dynamics I’ve experienced have been this way. I’d imagine it’s a rare response based on a fragile ego. If it happens often, I’d start looking inward - maybe delivery of the message🤷♂️

I’m on the same page with this. Glad we can catch each other’s mistakes. It’s why having 2 pilots is so important. Curious to see what happened and what caused the breakdown in procedures
