So I’m not sure what airline you work for but 65 of our 777-200s will turn 30 in the next 6 years…..

What I'd like to know is what happened to the JAL and Korean 777-200's that were grounded as a result of the P&W engines. Lots of potential spares there.

We could use their engines for sure. It has been 15 years since a PW 4000 series engine has been produced from PW. We have done an excellent job overhauling our own during this time but support from PW in the last 18 months has been lacking thus the temporary parking of up to four jets over the past several months. Hopefully, with the seasonal schedule reduction, we can catch up engine overhauls as the B models get some down time and A models go into North/South domestic rotations. I could see a future where most of the A models get parked and twenty or so more B models get modified to domestic configuration and a slight de-rate on the 4090 to say, a 4084 thus reducing EGT for takeoff but still allowing for domestic/Hawaii ops with high density seating (and a better MGLW!). This could get us through another decade of widebody domestic ops until a new solution presents itself. The remaining B models could operate Europe with de-rated 4090s and the Pacific could be the domain of the C models, -322s and 787s of various models. Obviously there are a few hurdles Boeing and PW need to get through in order for this scenario to be possible (think EA design change implementation of March 2028 deadline)
