FA Contract

I don’t see how this doesn’t end up in arbitration, based on how far apart the side are.
I’d be curious to know how many majors have FAs using PBS vs line bidding. If 75% have already gone to PBS it might be in their best interests to focus their negotiating capital elsewhere (work rules). That way if it gets to arbitration you can say “look how unreasonable the company is, no one else does X,Y, and Z but the company is insisting on it.”

Yeah... some of us that work there actually don't get it either.
It's incredible how often you hear someone here mention another flight attendant who works here "but they haven't flown in a long time."

My spouse is a 26 year FA at WN. She says the same thing. She was a 200TFP/month flyer for a long time. She says the same thing—many senior to her just do recurrent and give everything away. The FA gig (especially for the senior ones) at SWA seems to be the best pay and QOL in the industry.

It seems like the first thing a labor board member, or member of congress forcing a contract would throw out. It’s not a hill I would choose to die on, but maybe they are just trying to get the company to give them something juicy in return.
The safety aspect of very aged FA is a little concerning though. Probably a topic for a different thread though.

I understand why they do it, free medical care for them and the family, travel benefits, vacation pay….but every one of those folks is probably costing the company over 100k per person per year.

Just food for thought.

I’d much rather have that contract value going to new hires doing the hard work dealing with customers every day.
