As only ALPA would have it as they wring their hands of the whole process. Thx for the response.

I had a voluntary furlough asking about his status. I'm assuming this is where longevity would factored into the equation. There are pilots who took leaves of absence as well. Has ALPA defined longevity for the purpose of seniority integration or is it open to broad interpretation?

Sunvox is right they pull all those guys out and put them back in after the list is done, at least that's the norm in past mergers.

Longevity isn't defined at all. It will be quite the fight over what it means IMO.ALPA should have defined it in general terms.

A pilot on voluntary furlough will maintain his relative seniority from the premerge list onto the new list. The pilots immediately senior to him and junior to him will remain immediately senior to him and junior to him. There is no shuffling of the premerger list.

A good starting place is looking at the USAirways/America West SLI.

Look at Brucia's opposing view at the end of the Nicolau(sp?) Award.
Brucia was one of the people instrumental in the change of ALPA Merger Policy.

A good read. Only time will tell.

With all the talk about Section 3 I've lost track of the most important section, Section 1. Does anyone know what we asked for in the Scope section?

Much has been made of the "new" ALPA Merger Policy. Brucia has said on several occasions that the additional language was added only to "clarify" the process and that none of the modifications substantially change how the policy is implemented.

I think the words "clarify and "ALPA" probably have never been used in the same sentence before......

Well...technically they weren't used in the same sentence here either (note the period after "Policy"). :D But I couldn't agree more with the sentiment...

30,

You hit that nail square on the head.

A change in policy to prevent the AWA/AAA debacle that neglected to define the true meaning.

I think you said elsewhere, all of the merger policy can be sidestepped by mutual agreement at any time.
