Using this argument, Continental owns 90% of the airplane, and United owns the 10% painted United. I don't think it matters who the acquiring carrier is or was, we as pilots need to squeeze a good contract out of management before Smilton turns the goose into a vulture.

Ok while you guys argue about who acquired who, the truth was made obvious recently when the pay stubs were revealed. It was all about the deal! Tilton, his senior managers, and even Jeff made the deal to cash in. Nothing more nothing else.

Now as far as "equals" UAL Inc. brought the cash to the deal which made it happen. With out the money CAL would have filed bk and UAL would be swallowed up and sold off in pieces to the highest bidder.

So, since the UAL Senior management wanted out and Jeff wanted to be King, would you expect anything else than painting the planes in CAL colors and writing UNITED on the side since? It was UAL money which made it happen and CAL managers left holding the reigns.

Lighted up guys, it's not about you at all, it's all about Tilton and Jeff, they are getting what they seek.

Yeah United bought CAL then laid off most of themselves, senior managers, and put in place a majority of CAL senior managers. Are you happy now? You won the argument and now lets move on.

We're all pawns in the Smilton game and you guys are measuring your tallywhackers? Does any of that matter in the overall scheme of things? BTW, my dad can beat your dad up.

You could of just said CAL needed to merge to survive long term, but no you had to remind all us CAL folks that we were 'saved' by UAL. Btw the true liquidity to make this deal happen came from Jamie Dimon, not Glenn Tilton.

You CAL guys and gals are a bit "sensitive" shall we say?

If you read my post it also says UAL would have been broken up and sold!

Therefore it was a "merger of equals" and maybe we should all get over it and move on.

But of course the debate about this will go long after Tilton, his managers and Jeff retire at their luxury compounds.

No one bought anyone. It was a merger. The "United" name was picked over the CAL name for business reasons. The logo was picked the same way. The HQ location has nothing to do with anything. CAL was not in trouble of going anywhere. I think UAL was doing fine too. We merged. I don't like it. You don't have to like it, but they did it. They will pick certain aircraft to park based on age and expense. They will put certain aircraft to fly certain routes based on making money. It is not "us vs. them" between the pilots, it should be "us vs. them" with the pilots and management. Jeff doesn't care about you. He won't give you one penny unless you (we) fight for it. We are 11,000 strong. It's about time we show them our strength and resolve. I lost my pay, I lost the left seat, I lost the right seat of the widebody. I want something back. I want it all back. Both pilots groups have suffered in the last decade. Let's not get into a "I suffered more than you" argument. Let's get it all back. Let's work together.
