Default Seniority movement at CAL?

The most recent seniority list at United had me moving up 58 numbers in the last 15 months; I am about 75 from bottom on furlough. Just curious, what kind of movement is taking place at CAL ?

Looks like a lot of furloughees have resigned. I was hired January 2000 and have about 325 furloughed pilots senior to me and I only moved 35 numbers.

I think CAL averages 10 retirements per year. Basically no movement, unless you are in EWR, then the movement is backwards.

Back in the day, in a former COEX life, around early 2002, while tdy'ed in IAH; CAL was loosing as many pilots from loss of medical as they were from retirements. I was thinking the hogs at the vjm trough may be starting to medical out like they were back then while many were on the street.

Unfortunately what you saw as piglets in 2002 has grown into hogs even if they worked for COEX in a former life.

Movement is BEYOND pathetic in EWR. Our latest bid shows 1 or 2 retirements on the B737 in the next 18 months. All those guys who were sticking around till they were 62 for bridge medical have decided the gravy train will continue till the day they reach 66. I hope they all get to enjoy at least a few months of retirement before they kick the bucket. I used to have approximately 360 captains below me in EWR. That changed with the "kick EWR in the balls for the Magenta line" fiasco, at which point they cut our base by MORE than half, and I've found myself at the very bottom ( from 72% to 99.8% staffing) for the past year and a half. We are getting almost NO growth on the B737 and the time *****s are in full abundance. It's REALLY sad.

I do recall many fat "piglets" at the time... I was more interested in "dollars and days off" ,. This phrase was told to me years ago by a retired United pilot. This is the goal of every airline pilot. The problem is many pilots have forgot about the "days off" part. I did see the vjm post saying E number winners in the vjm game. Growing up on the farm , as I recall, pigs get fat... Hogs get slaughtered! Hopefully, some will wake up to their shortsighted thinking.

As a new hire at CAL, I was told by a captain (with a lower case c) that the pay cut wasn't a big deal you can just pick up more trips to make up the difference. Big difference in advice.

Which pay cut was he referring to? (I'm thinking I won't like the answer)

Contract 02, which really wasn't a pay cut for me since I was stupid enough to start working under it in 06.
