Doing a DEN IAD turn on the bus at FL 250/260 will burn an extra 6k lbs of fuel more round trip. That is almost $2000 dollars. That is more than what they are paying us to fly the plane. Hope it is worth it.. The view is much better down there anyway.

Y2K. That was a fun summer

Want to reduce fuel burn? Negotiate our contract and quit stalling.

That's mainly because the Port Authority only has two temperature settings at EWR: summer and winter. Recently asked for the air to be hooked up and was told "It's only going to blow hot air, sir. It's set to winter." Very much like our terminals in EWR. Suffocating at times, esp. in C-2 concourse.

Maybe that's the real reason Stankovich retired: couldn't stand the C-2 heat!

I thought the 70+ crowd was always cold and always wanted the heat turn up.

Always thought Y2K stood for "why 2000lb?"
I mean, who's counting among friends?
:)

Very perceptive. It was a reference to both the summer festivities that year and extra fuel load.

Start the APU at the top of descent.

Leave it on until the top of climb

Go Around just for fun

I am not actually advocating anything that would get anyone in trouble. I would never do anything like that. For the record.
