Default Jumpseat on UCAL

I was told last week by a gate agent that starting last saturday they will longer be able to list OAL's at the gate? Is this true because I called the number to list and they wanted to charge me 20 bucks to list me and they said I could do it at isc.id90.com but that too charges you a fee?

So what the deal, can I list at the gate like I have done in the past?

According to the union and the company: United pilots are supposed to list but other airlines should be able to walk-up.

You might want to go to a former CAL ticket counter to sign in... until UAL side agents get the hang of this. (I just spent 30 minutes at the ticket counter while they figured out my ordinary SA pass)

Jump Seaters just go to gate. Don't know why anybody would go to the counter to get the SA ticket figured out!

All jumpseaters, you can just go to the gate for L-UAL. Management mistakenly told the agents that you must list when we had the Shares debacle. Wrong. Many agents still don't know how to do it, or don't have the time, it takes much longer now.

You do not have to pay the listing fee!!! In fact, as a L-UAL pilot, there is no way to list for UAL Express jumpseat!

If you are having a problem with a particular agent, try another one if available, or better yet, jump up and down in the window to get the crew's attention and talk to them. Most likely they will step off the plane until the situationis resolved, IE, not going till we get him on...

The JS program at the "old" United....the one that took an agent about three key strokes and 10 seconds......you know the idiot proof one that only required your ID....that almost instantly spit out a JS card for the Captain....in ten seconds.....that you didn't need to list for..... IS GONE.

BUT, its been replaced by a NEW and improved system! A system that none of the agents know how to use, a system that takes forever and is idiotically cumbersome, a system that requires a form that none of the agents seem have (at least on UALEX) is such a wonderful improvement. Just like SHARES, its all jeffed up!

Show up early, bring chocolate and a smile because all of the agents are already stressed out and ready to rip your head off.

I really love it when the agents look at you with the death rays and point..."go stand over there". WhiskyTangoFox??! Hey captains....how about taking a stroll at the gate 10 mins prior to push if you're not busy? This crap has got to be fixed!

Doesn't matter if we are busy or not, the "stroll" needs to be mandatory for ALL of us until this gets fixed. It's not the agents fault. Once again, management didn't give them the tools to do their jobs, but then places ENORMOUS pressure on them to get the flight out on time. WE need to be out there taking the pressure off of them by ensuring them that we will make sure the jumpseaters are accommodated.
