Ipad Propaganda from Flight Ops
How wicked cool that the company is giving us iPads! Oh those Jepps that weigh 30 lbs, yeah you guys will have to carry those for the foreseeable future...

What a garbage video. They act like it is actually working! Hell, there is no mount or charging option in the jets, exceptionally weak functionality (basically a book reader with a weak search function) and less than half of the 320 pilots have even picked them up to date. I won't be doing so until they make me. Just like this merger, they have no intention of doing the heavy lifting, but are more than willing to pose for the camera and act like its working. Unreal.

Disappointed that all the guys in uniform were real united guys. Guess you can call them Scab wannabes. Remember to greet them appropriately. Do I hear crickets?

All the itards must be drooling over this but how will an ipad get the "passenger to their destination quicker and safer"?

I don't mean to throw a wet blanket on this "grinch" parade but I watched the video. All pilots pictured seemed to be pretty normal, half-full types doing the job and explaining how newer technology will help a little more in the efficiency, planning and analysis of a given flight.
They were a little young compared to me, but hey, everyone's young compared to me...nor is everybody as miserable as this board tends to be. "Half-full" works best through most phases of life. :) |

That video is corporate masturbation, it makes them feel good; but nobody else benefits, wants to watch, or wants to join in. I almost got a peak at one of the company issued iPads from an LCA but he couldn't get the thing unlocked. That was in ops, god help a crew that has an inflight emergency and relies on that POS to find a checklist or procedure. Not to slam the iPad as a platform, I think it has potential. However, this implementation appears to be business as usual. |
Looks like the UAL types are being fooled into the "photo opportunities" layed out by management too. Disgusting................. Sorry, but I'm tired of hearing about all the CAL "suck ups" we have. Looks like you guys have them too.....................sad, so sad. Funny, but out "brilliant" crackpot money saving teams are currently giving them to the fleets that only carry shipsets and NOT two sets of jepps. Where is the savings in that? NONE! Pretty smart in my book.

Hat wearing A** wipes.
To my knowledge - only lca's and marvin's have picked up the ipad in LAX. Same a** wipes that are on everyone's "do not fly with" list. |
