It's the same old song and dance with any ALPA President. Remember Prater's "Takin' it Back" campaign? He swore up and down he'd never sign a concessionary contract. First thing he did? He signed the Comair concessionary contract. New boss...same as the old boss...minus the mustache and spray tan.

Good luck to both UAL and CAL. As an RJ desperately looking for career progression, hold strong on Scope!

The whole "king maker" thing you speak of. I agree with you, but I was thinking there were some "pilot king makers" working on this, never aware of the attorney you spoke of. If I had to guess, I thought it would be the guy that used to work for ALPA that is not a lawyer. The guy who is now the "advisor" who started his own company who did those touchey-feeley-motivational things? That "smart guy"...what's his name?
Nah, it wasn't Seth.

Let me just tell you this. If Moak doesn't act there is going to be a huge push to decertify ALPA at L-UAL. The general attitude over here is that enough is enough and the fuse is getting very short.

I actually wrote Obama a letter outlining my concerns and issues and asked him to influence the NMB to relase us.

I think that is what it would take. 10,000 letters to the white house.

i'll let you know if I get a response so I can update my opinion.

Wow. An idealist.
Do let us know if you get a response - then maybe I'd become one too.

Well, I figure it's like this.

I could give more money to the PAC to get what I want done, but they would go out and lobby for next gen or some weird off the wall stuff.

If I've got an issue I write whoever is in charge trying to appeal to their sense of right and wrong.

I still write both my Congressman and my Senator from time to time.

First letter I've written to Obama. He'll probably get one of his Chicago boys to write me a letter and autograph a picture of him signing the Obama-care bill or a picture of him in his air force one flight jacket looking large and in charge.

biffster,

I'm aware of those facts. Actually, the CBA protection for sympathetic strikes is redundant since it's allowed by the RLA and NLGA unless specifically stated otherwise in a CBA (i.e. waiving the right). FWIW.

But your real point I believe was....No Excuses. Concur.

I sent out this letter today to Moak. It is very blunt, but I feel appropriate:

Dear Captain Moak,

I have talked to my LEC reps today, and they seem to think that you are intentionally delaying the L-UAL ALPA request for you to go to the NMB for our release.

I would like to remind you that you work for the pilots, not the other way around.

By delaying our request, you are legitimizing 3 and 4 year contract discussions and rewarding management for not bargaining in good faith. It seems that I must also remind you that this is a union, for the workers, it does not exist for your political ambitions.

Either get it together and send the request for release immediately, or the efforts to decertify ALPA will begin in earnest. You seem to have no idea how incredibly angry the UAL pilot is at ALPA and UCH management. You are poking a sleeping giant.

Here's my letter to Lee Moak.

Deer Lee,

I know your're a non-confrontational chap, and it's not in your DNA to come out fighting. This is why I recommend you resign immediately so that we may elect a new ALPA President who is willing to fight for us.

Also, please find a way to lock the UAL and CAL MEC's in a broom closet for a week so they might get on the same page.

Thank you for your service.

PS. Settle that damn TWA suit quick, or we're done.
