I count about 6500 points of leverage on Capt. Moak............and growing every day.

Here is my thing, I am at the bottom of the furlough list, currently not flying (was going to do J4J, but a series family emergency arose at that time) and have been eagerly awaiting my time to come on the CAL side, which would be in the fall hiring at CAL. Now it is my understanding that when the JCBA is reached, and the companies become "one" All bets are off with regards to CAL hiring, and it becomes a recall, starting over from the top. Which may take another year or two to reach the bottom of the list. I think it would be great to get longevity pay, but to wait another two years or so would really suck.
I am one of those unfortunate saps that really like to fly, and put up with all the BS so I can. i know a lot of you have it a lot worse, and have been playing this game a lot longer, but, I just thought I'd speak my mind.

Obviously nobody has a crystal ball, so take my predictions with a grain of salt.
I believe that any contract that passes at UCH will require a significant number of recalls. I am hopefull (but not completely confident) that the CAL system of scheduling abuse (on the part of the company) and credit time pickup will be a thing of the past. At a minimum, I expect to see restrictions in place limiting the company's scheduling and JM practices when triggers are met. (ie; when there are pilots on furlough.) Even if a contract is not reached this year, the impending retirements should get you back here before the end of the year, and certainly before next summer (2013). (If the summer meltdown happens as most people expect it will, you should have a chance to go to CAL this summer.)
But, I'm sure you've heard all of this before.
Again, FWIW.

I want some of what you're smokin' Hog!!! I think we'll be doing well to have 1,000 names below us by '17. To Mr. Smisdick, that might be the "meat", but to me I'm staring directly at my third furlough. Thanks, but no.

Glass half full; glass half empty. It will probably be somewhere in between. I agree that it is good to hope for the best and plan for the worst, and I don't blame you for being concerned about a third furlough. Nobody expected the first furlough, much less the second.

For those ALPA members who believe in taking action here's a suggestion send Capt. Moak an email . . .
Here's what I sent . . .
Dear Sir,
Please accept this email as a vote in support of asking the NMB to release UAL/CAL ALPA from negotiations.

and address it to Lee dot Moak at alpa dot org

Well. it would take 3 status reps to be able to call for one. I don't think the MEC is willing to recall him.
Lee Moak is un-touchable. Unless he screws up TWA settlement. Better off forcing him to resign. Got any pictures of him with farm animals?

I honestly think he doesn't care about that.
I hear you loud and clear!
But, Lee knew about that number and its potential for growth when our elected reps voted for him. What puzzles me is, why would he, how could he get voted in under those circumstances? DAL may leave ALPA HAD.
