First, I don't even know if this was a real letter by a real person who was really there.
Second, shame on the CAL MEC if they were not there. I mean 100 percen there. That to me is more embarassing than a lack of communications from the MEC Chairman.
Third, I haven't heard from CA. Happner either, so I can't confirm anything. Still in the dark
Fourth, If a big cheese meeting took place, and there is a perceived or real disconnect, no way will the pilots be able to act or react unless we know what the problems are. It may be a tightly closed meeting and for very good reason, but at the end of the day, if ALPA wants 12,000 UAL pilots manning a picket line, we need to be brought along in the communicatios process. We need to be highly informed.
Fifth, There is a recall brewing in EWR right now. Those guys represent about 2000 CAL pilots. Those 2 reps definitely support JP. I perceive the recall is a play at taking out JP at a critical time, which is definitely their right under the ALPA CBL. But, I wonder if this meeting (anonymous letter) is related in some way. The "recallers" as it were are very low-class individuals with a track record of "me-me-me" instead of "we-we-we."
Sixth, How would I know what I could disagree with in the letter unless I was there personally to witness the meeting and testify to the letter's validity?

I haven't seen a peep from JP.... Or Moak for that matter. The IAH rep put out a great update, and he/she should be commended for that.
I'm not going to squabble about this any more. Your complaint was that the CAL MEC was not involved/consulted. They've now been involved/consulted. Just waiting on JP to hear if he is going to support enforcing the timeline management already agreed to. The silence is getting old. Perhaps this is why JP wasn't involved to begin with. It seems to me that the CAL pilots, as a group, are more than ready. The UAL pilots are ready. The IAH reps are ready. The lobbyists are ready. Moak is worthless. JP is silent. Congress goes to recess soon. It's now, or I can burn all my Contract 2012 signs, because we are cooked for AT LEAST another year.
You seem cautious about proceeding with the Heppner plan because you are concerned about getting bullied by the UAL pilots and your reps not having a say in how things go down. I can appreciate that, but I wish it were as obvious to you that we all have the same goals as it is to me. The elephant in the room is the SLI. Clearly JP considers it at every move. But this isn't about the SLI to any UAL pilot I've talked to. We are just as scared about that as you are, but we want a contract NOW that fixes what is crappy about both of our contracts. The reason we want you to board the Heppner train is not because we have some devious alterior motive to hose you somehow. It's because the Heppner plan is, well, an actual plan. JP doesn't offer a plan except status quo. That hasn't been cutting it for two years now. As I said in a previous post, if ALPA and JP don't support our request for release, I'll bet you $10,000 we don't have a TA by the mutually agreed upon date of June 15th. That's what I think of JP's strategy.
