Meeting with the Navy O recruiter
Hi All:
I have a meeting with the Navy Officer Recrutier for aviation next week (6/10). I'll be taking the ASTB, and submitting most of the required docs (letters of rec, application, essays), and not sure what else I will be doing with the recruiter.
Plan on getting a fresh hair cut, shaving, and wearing business casual clothes. If I want to be an officer, I should present my self like I am ready to become an officer.
Any advice for some one who is nervous, as far as test taking, and the meeting in general? I'm currently an E-5 in the USAR, but want to continue serving my country as on officer, to gain personal growth, and fly.

Be yourself, be professional, courteous, and most of all be honest. Answer his/her questions honestly and coherently. If the recruiter asks if you have any questions by all means ask away. If you have pointed questions make sure they get answers to those questions.
Good luck!

I speak from personal experience. I was in your shoes 23 years ago as an E-5. I succeeded and now am recently retired as an 0-5 former carrier pilot. So remember this piece of advice. And Thank you for your continued desire to give back,

Do as the others have recommended, which I endorse, but also remember this, you have ALREADY proven yourself in the Armed Forces, and you should carry this into the interview. You have demonstrated leadership already if you are an E-5. So don't forget what YOU have to offer the Navy. Do not be arrogant, but be confident in your accomplishments thus far. The recruiter will appreciate that.

What he said.
Also I assume you bought one of those books to prepare for the test?

I showed up yesterday for the test and the meeting, but the computer went down and had to be sent out for repairs. Since I have to leave for annual training with my reserve unit, I will take the test when I get back.
On the positive side, this gives me more time to study so that when I do take it, I can blow the test out of the water, and get an awesome score.
Also mentioned that I have a friend who is in BUDS, and was then introduced to the Chief who "deals" with the Seal/SW applicants. I set up an appointment to take the fitness test for it after being "asked" to.

NSW is definitely seeking applicants, so it's not a surprise that they asked you to do so. Good luck. I will say this, the only Aviators I know who washed out of another program all washed out of BUDs.....so there is a fall back plan if it doesn't work out.
