Hope you're comfortable will your current pay and working conditions because management will patiently sit and wait til you become reasonable and change your mind. They are getting excellent cost savings at your current rates, even with two separate lists.
With that being said, do you have ANY aspirations in which to up-grade, and/or move on within the ranks of the airline profession....IE-Legacy Carrier in your future career path?? If so, you may want to heed your own words below. The idea of SCOPE cuts both ways....It cost mainline jobs if NOT kept in check.....BUT also keeps those who fly the 'outsourcing' at peanuts & swag by the SAME Marketing/Mgt that you advocate we leave it all too. "Hope you're comfortable will your current pay and working conditions..." "Trip7"-2012 ....But I'm sure you already know/knew that. |

Could not agree more....Trip7 is so far in left field he can no longer see the game. I agree totally. @Trip7.. Enjoy your FO seat and be glad that people that have a clue are fighting FOR your future at a mainline!
"Hope you're comfortable will your current pay and working conditions..." "Trip7"-2012 You said it best- UAL/CAL will have a new contract before you upgrade! |

You still don't get it. The ultimate determination of scope is Mainline to Regional Block Hour Ratio. This alone determines where the jobs are going. The Delta TA is superior to any of UNICAL'S two pilot contracts on scope.
You can attempt to spin it any which way, but when L-UA Pilots got gutted on the SCOPE topic, don't expect the airframe size to be compromised (or allow Marketing to run free) on letting Block Hour Ratio rule the roost as solo protection.....again, DONT buy it. |
15+yrs ago AA gave management an inch.... They gave them the RJ.. Now... Eagle has only 200 departures a day fewer than mainline AND AA still has pilots on furlow. But hey....atleast those rj fo's have a job.

Mainline vs Reg. Block Hour Ratio....YES, more than you realize, I GET IT. What you failing to factor into the equation (convenient or otherwise) is the airframe size AS WELL. I for one refuse to allow Mgt/Marketing to "have the cake and eat it too" as far as the size of airframe that they choose to outsource. They've had their way with that, and that is gonna stop. Why are you refusing to acknowledge the airframe size in ADDITION to the Ratio?

I would be absolutely fine with a contract that allow unlimited outsourcing of any aircraft limited to 1% of total block hours vs any current scope agreement out there anywhere. Only thing better than that is 0 outsourcing allowed but that is unreasonable at this time. |

Because aircraft size does not require more or less pilots. Block hours does.
Let's say 250 people need to go from LAX to DEN in a given amount of time. Ten pilots could do it with five CRJ-200s. Two pilots could do it with one 777. Or maybe a really crowded 767. |

You sure about that?

Or maybe a really crowded 767. 10 pilots need with 5 RJs because they are covering 10 block hours vs 2 block hours for the mainline guys. Limit the RJ block hours contractually, you limit RJ jobs. |

My comment & opinion will require more pilots at the mainline. Whatever type of airplane is best suited for the market, let's negotiate a pay rate and fly it, as ONE company. |
