Comment: it will never get to a strike. Question: How will "the line pilots make it happen?" "will never get to a strike" eh? think history doesn't repeat ? in all of history, history repeats. may never get. but not "will never get". 95% chance no strike. 5% chance strike. to believe otherwise is to ignore history |

I was there in 1983 when LCAL was raped by one man and I was there in 1985 LUAL. Part of "history!" Now answer the question I posed, that is the real mystery here. |
Joint Message 7/26
Dear Fellow Pilots:
On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, we met with management and the National Mediation Board (NMB) in Washington, D.C., as intended when we were asked by the NMB to bring suggestions to reach a JCBA. All remaining open items were discussed, including benefits, scope and compensation. Though no actual proposals were exchanged, the discussions were open and frank, and were fashioned toward concluding a JCBA in the near future. Regrettably, there is little to report from those meetings. While ALPA continues to negotiate in good faith, the company clearly lacks the desire needed to reach a deal. Basically, the company’s performance didn’t meet our goal of providing the contract our pilots expect. We’ve watched the company play its shell game and its attempts to move items around to make the contract look better, without adding any real value. When we travel back to Washington next week for additional meetings on Tuesday and Wednesday at the behest of the NMB, we encourage the company to come prepared to negotiate, and to show up with more than just a different shade of lipstick to apply to the pig. We have shown the company that we are serious about the JCBA and that our pilots are overwhelmingly unified in support of their negotiators and their union. It is time to conclude these negotiations. In Unity, |
So.....Nothing to report.
Got it. |
Nothing to report...nothing to report! It's soo damn frustrating!! Our union has to do something here. This is bordering on the ridiculous! Everytime I read these updates that are full of nothing it just raises my blood pressure!

Actually, the report is....the NMB is sending both parties back to negotiation.
As suspected, Heppner knew there was no chance for a release in an election year. He did a most despicable thing by spinning up the pilot group for political reasons. His supporters criticized the previous MEC Chair for not getting anything done. When he found himself in the same position he spun up the troops with requests for release that he knew wasn't happening. Shameful ... now what are you going to do Jay(s). Their lack of communications indicate no plan. |

^^^^Read between the lines^^^^ Even the Joint MEC Chair Letter expressed doubts as to the Company's ability in which to negotiate. What's different from the Company's bargaining pattern thus far?? The entire concept of "Negotiations" takes two opposing parties in which to conduct the art, so far I see one that is actually attempting to partake in the process.....CLUE, it's NOT the Company. "Good Faith" my a$$!!! |
