I have 1650 Continental pilots that were hired after me, if you only include time on the property, then it is still 1625 pilots behind me. I am fine with date of hire. Screw the 83-85 hires on both lists.

Ok so you think....only it's all about yourself.

Well your going to be miserable quite a bit longer as you know this won't end up straight date of hire.

Some were deferred from transitioning at their due times for staffing reasons. They have seniority from their original scheduled transisition time. That all ended in early 2005.

And of course after 9-11 there were flow backs to COEX, you could take a seat at COEX or furlough. Clear as mud...

So there doh is from when they were hired at coex or when they got to main line cal. thx

The most senior of those guys are 88 and that was the cal date they got. They came from Britt, Bar harbor, and Rocky mountain airways. Most were hired at those carriers prior to 88. After those guys you got the date of your class for bid seniority. Exp...a 90 hire at coex transitioned to CAL in 97, his bid seniority is 97.

When did you get hired at Continental? How do you have 1650 pilots from CAL below you?

Duckdude 08-15-2012 12:10 PM

He didn't say he had pilots below him, just hired after him.

That's like me saying that I have 1000 pilots hired after me at SWA. Makes no sense, as I don't work for SWA.

This the whole point of this thread. There is A HUGE misconception and I believe that is purposely being perpetrated by our beloved management. They are trying to make it sound like the preferential hiring deal at LCAL is a legal recall and it is NOT in anyway shape or form a recall!

This incorrect characterization needs to be addressed and corrected immediately!

United and SouthWest did not merge, United and Continental did. I was hired at United in January 2000 and Continental twelve years later. I have flown with Continental pilots that flowed up from Express that received Continental hire dates while they were still at Express for up to a year.

Coto, there's a reason for that. Before 9/11, CoEx was wholly owned by CAL. There was a flow through agreement that allowed pilots from Express to be interviewed in seniority order for jobs at mainline CAL. Training at Express couldn't produce enough qualified captains to backfill the vacancies created by demand for pilots at CAL. Therefore, a pilot who had been hired at CAL was forced to stay at Express until they could be replaced. It was only fair that they accrued seniority as if they were already on property at CAL.
