Gordon Bethune keynote in Tulsa

A couple of salient things.
At 24 minutes he states that if you lie to your employees you'll loose all of your credibility. Jeff should take note because due to his continuous stream of lies, subversion and half truths his credibility is long gone. Gordon talks about the difference between motivated employees and uncaring employees and hostile employees. I guess Jeffy poo is all about the hostile employee program as that is precisely what he's created and continues to foster.

Having witnessed Gordo in much more of a "celebratory persona" after several libations, I'd say he was pretty subdued in the clip. Many of us have witnessed it live & in person, and that was far from his "A-Game" in that video.
However, nothing that a Trans-con and a quite a few mini's won't jumpstart....

Gordon had a 'good team', IE - Greg. He was a "good cheerleader", one that actually displayed LEADERship, got directly involved, and had his employees ("co-worker") buy into his plan. 1994-2004's "From Worst to First" was not a "mistake".
Gordon = LEADER who had a plan that involved forethought, and communication.
jeff = Lacks ALL the above, and more.

No Vision
The biggest problem with the current leadership is they have no vision for where they want the company to be, or at least they haven't shared that vision with their employees.
I couldn't tell you where I'll be based a year from now, and that isn't good for any employee group's QOL.
In addition, it's funny how our leadership thinks that they can use the same business plan and mantra that Gordon created over 20 years ago.
Come up with a new vision, new catch phrases, and actually be true to them. Make the employees trust the company. They are using all of Gordon's phrases, but the kicker is they are all BS. It's even more insulting to have the same old business plan, and your management is just giving it "lip service".
How about some customer service to our employees.

The Real Business Plan
It appears to me that that nearly all of American business uses the same model, as espoused by the Ivy-League business schools.
The Real Customer is the Investor. The Real Result is Stock Value.
As such, management will do anything to increase the value of the stock, sell it, reap the benefit, and repeat. Lousy product? Low employee morale; furious customers? Doesn't matter if Quarterly Profits are better than expected.
Who votes the BOD and CEO into their positions? The employees? The customers?
No. Shareholders. And therein lies the problem.

I agree, but it's more like JPM and Chase. The term "shareholders" makes it sound like individuals. It's the institutional investors. The banks.
Oh and by the way, UAL/CAL sucks under El Heffe. We've got "the cancer" as Momma said to Forrest.

It's interesting what Bethune said about merger between CAL and UAL:
"If I was a CEO, I would have never done it, because you pay to much; the cost you pay is the name... It's hard to change the culture, if you fly under the same name, to the same cities. These are good people, and can make United good again. But for me, I would have not made that decision..."
We know, that L. Kellner has resonated Bethune opinion, during first merger proposal in 2008.
