They are furloughed from UAL but, they wear CAL uniforms, they fly CAL planes, they bid CAL bases, they report to CAL flight management, and they are represented by J Pierce. Hence, their retro/lump sum pay should come from UAL while earning a paycheck on the CAL side.

"Your" new hires, "our" share? With friends like that...
It would have helped UAL's ISL argument if they had been awarded something. Hard to argue that UAL furloughs should go in front of working CAL pilots when UAL's own union considered them invisible, and their own fellow pilots say they're yours, not ours.
LOA 24 calls it a lump sum. The company distributed it in two parts, one to each union. The unions chose what to call it and how to portion it out. It could have been a lump sum distributed to all, including the furloughs. UAL chose to treat it as retro.

It's the gong show for ALPA. Why are our reps and advisors so inept?

Wow. New to this thread. It just stressed me the F out. Calm down boys and girls. I see an America West/ US Air on the horizon for us.......who's going to be our American? (Just kidding.) Let's take it down a notch or two and focus on the future. As a twice furloughed UAL guy, I am happy to be flying on the CAL side. I am enjoying it and actually live at my base. (What a novel concept) I am an eternal optimist , and, in spite of the d bags on here that want to throw mud and pick fights, I think overall, things are going to be ok. Will I end up with my 1999 seniority? No. Will I be furloughed and boned yet again.....? Hopefully not. Will I be able to pick up the pieces and try to save the a$h end of my career? Yes. None of us will be happy with what happens next, but overall, we will survive and be in relatively good shape. You want to be on the losing team and part of a dysfunctional family? Or do you want to move on and kick American's and Delta's As$? Management already had their way with us. We had the opportunity to fight them but didn't. Now we need to move on. We are NOT each other's enemy, I promise you.

Thank you my brother. That's what I'm talking about. We are all brothers here. It's not us against us. It's us against them!!! You want a beer? It's 8:30 in the morning!.........Scotch? Classic movie! And, kind of like my personal life! I hope Michael Keaton comes out with another one like that. Let's all get along, and those who want to be party poopers will be the NEW SCABS!!!!
