It wasn't an interview. It was an assault.

No matter how good a bud is, you will never know how they acted in their interview or sim ride...

I believe there is such a thing as over preparing for an interview. Although your stories and answers may be genuine, when practiced over and over, can sound very canned. I think this has kept a few very good folks from getting a job offer.

This is true regarding the TMAAT stories, I believe.

I resisted the urge to type out my narrative for each story, and instead just went old school English class and typed out an outline. Before anyone asks, I didn't always follow the Air Force model of "Tell them what you're going to tell them, tell them what you tell them, then tell them what you just told them", I attempted to use a variation of "situation, action, result"

By typing up an outline, I have an idea what I would like to convey without memorizing the words.

And yet some say it's the easiest/most straightforward. May just depend on the day, the interviewers, and the interviewerees.

IIRC, it was around 50-60% got the the thumbs up. But SW (when they hired) was much much less. UAL "back in the day" before 9/11 only took about 1 in 12 to 1 in 14 the first go. If a candidate was lucky enough to get invited back to another interview, it was 50/50.

Depends, but for the most part, yes. It's a "one and done".

Yep, the S.T.A.R. works great.

Agreed, I think the best approach is to look through your logbook for the type of scenarios they will ask about and just have a few word memory jogger for each. That way the story is genuine and unrehearsed, but you have put some planning and thought into what is and more importantly is not a good TMAAT story.

I've heard that about DAL, that they're very confrontational in the interview by design.

True. Seems to work good to use a few runs of telling the story to hone/refine it so as not to stumble, say things like "like", "ya know", etc, and to make sure it at least flows concisely/efficiently. They don't have time for a doctoral thesis presentation. And it works to best to ALWAYS use one with a positive outcome/result.

It good to rehearse it so to speak, but think a few seconds before answering, don't cut them off and start telling your story right away before they're done asking the question.
