What's changing in April?
Beginning April 1, S-CO pilots will begin to see upgraded
crew meals on fresh food Choice Menu markets. These meals
are plastic wrapped and marked accordingly.
As a temporary solution, when crew meals are not boarded
under this provision, pilots may purchase a Choice Menu
item. If you receive a request, you may honor it at any time.
Use the HHD to complete the sale and provide a receipt to
the pilot.
Do not give Choice Menu items free of charge, be sure to
collect payment.
Choice menu items aside, pilots may not choose meals prior
to customer selection. Regular pilot crew meals (not special
meals) are included in the customer count and are used to
accommodate customer meal requests. This is in keeping
with current procedures for flight attendant crew meals.
How do I identify other pilot crew meals/snacks?
S-UA special meals: tent cards are placed on the tray set
ups and labeled “F/O (type of SPML) pilot name.”
S-UA and S-CO: Pilot predeparture snack trays are overwrapped
and marked “F/O Predeparture Snack.”

The response to an LCAL pilot requiring an OTF because company was out of compliance on this? Hopefully.

Your credit card position (correctly) noted, there is the other part that ticks me off. If the crew meals weren't on board, wouldn't the passengers still get the choice of what meals were available to them? Sixteen F class seats: 8 chicken and 8 pasta or 9/7 or whatever. Now we add one more of each for our contractual meals. Why do the passengers even have to know they are there? Why are they being used for customers as if they were always on board previously? Why are our meals not our meals that we designate and choose prior to boarding? I'm not asking to take one of the 8 or 8 the passengers normally get to choose from. Catering has a sheet that says passenger meals and crew meals. The passengers get their own allotment and we get ours with our two choices.

I must be smoking something. This is in the same category as the rest seat I guess. The one next to us gets to be used for passenger allotment and we get to use it if "left over" at the end of boarding. :rolleyes:

He asked for an OTF because there were no granola bars in the crew room early in the morning. An ops supervisor was instructed to purchase granola bars and deliver them to the airplane.

If my meal is not there I will just use the "Ill Be Back" response and ill find something I want to eat especially if I have to pay for it.

If I'm reading the original quote correctly, I believe they are saying that if there are no crew meals on board, but you should have them; you can buy the "food for purchase" in coach, but only after the passengers have first crack at it. You then submit your receipt.

If that is the case, it is very likely that you will not get any food at all.

EWR is correct, the FA's will use our First Class meals in their count for the passengers. 12 FC seats, 14 meals will be boarded. The FC pax will get their choice, the two meals left over will be given to the pilots. In essence more choices for the FC passengers. It's my understanding this is how it works on the International 756 flying, however the passengers choose their meals prior to push back. The 737 orders are taken airborne. LAME.

I've been asking the FA's to hold back the BOB food for purchase later in the flight. Lots of resistance at first but most of them seem to have gotten the memo that we are allowed to request the BOB stuff be held back.

Those weak sisters who can't/won't enforce their contract deserve what they get, the least of which is nothing to eat.

If you have a contractually required crew meal, make sure you get it. Management can write all the memos they want - no meal, no go until you have adequate nutrition. On time departures should be a goal, but why would anyone be hell-bent for on-time at the risk of flight safety?

Well it wasn't in the old contract that you flew under that you were so proud of that you voted NO so you could keep it.
