A little public math shows why they might be contacting those who did not get a Mar 4th email. 5 months of training classes at 12 seats per class per week, 48 per month. 300 emails means that they needed to hire 48 out of 60 interviewed each month. Just my 2 cents of course.
Not all classes have 12. I was told during my interview that they alternate every other class between 8 and 12. But I think you are correct in the sense that they may be finishing up the first batch of interviews. The Q&A they handed to us states that they will integrate the seniority before hiring again, but that could easily change (I hope it does and they keep on hiring.)

You are correct, there are a sprinkling of furloughed UAL guys in classes.
So that would mean less than 12 off the streeters in a class.

Anybody have any idea what type of experience and flight time are candidates being called for interviews?

It's very intensionally all over the map---UAL has been candid that they are looking for a diverse group of candidates to interview as long as the minimums are met.

That said, those on the lower end of the experience/flight time spectrum that receive the call have something else in their application to get UAL's attention (letters, references, academic scholarship, awards, prior UAL/CAL internship, etc.) compared to others with similar experience/flight times.

There is no single magic bullet but there are plenty of combinations of bullets.

To set up the Hogan test it's a 872 number which is Chicago. If you get passed that, they call you to set up the interview from a 303 number which is Denver.

Or Unknown Caller(Post Hogan call), so needless to say I answered a ton of telemarketing calls while waiting.

Default Hiring Update

Where are we with hiring?

The new pilot selection system is running smoothly with the
help of line pilots who are integral to the process. A vacant
area at the Denver Flight Training Center was recently reconfigured
to accommodate the pilot selection process, and the area
houses two new classrooms for our new and returning pilots.
Between March and May of this year, 104 furloughed pilots
have accepted recall to the L-UAL seniority list and we’ve
hired 134 new pilot candidates to the L-CAL seniority list.
We’ll continue interviewing through the end of June to fill
B737 and B756 classes scheduled in Houston through August.
These classes also remain available to furloughed L-UAL pilots
who volunteer for them.
Although we are likely to resume screening applicants later in
the summer, it’s difficult to predict exactly when we’ll offer
class dates to successful candidates. This may depend on how
many of our furloughed pilots accept recall after the seniority
lists are integrated. We’ll keep you updated as the picture
gets clearer and we appreciate all of the support and enthusiasm
from our pilots.
