Scabs: We'd like tables, maybe, if its ok, to do our long haul briefings. Please?
CAL: Get to work biotch, be grateful for what you got.
Scabs: Yes sir! Can I shine your shoes please sir?

LUAL pilots have been based and flying out if Houston and Newark for years now and the facility's are the same as they have always been. When are you superior people (your words) gonna get some tables installed?

It will take time to do your job as well as ours.... Once of the battles we are dealing with is the mindset, "well we've done it this way at CAL for so long?? What do you mean we need to change...??"

since you aren't aware of your own agency, I suggest patience. While you wait, why not work on the 'food out of the cooler' Red Cross Disaster Relief style cafeteria at TK South? We are professionals aren't we?

Aren't we?

Why? We all can easily individually check wx, notams, and flight plan, and arriving in the airplane 60-45 minutes prior to push is plenty of time to brief, introduce yourself, set the tone / establish CRM and discuss fuel load etc., anything else is overkill.
All the other stuff is a throwback to the old days, things change, adapt. :-). I usually look over the flight plan and weather in my hotel two hours prior to show, no need for a group hug in the weather room.

Discus fuel load, you joking right? That hardly ever happens. Very few "c"aptains do that. Yet another culture difference.

I am, with your attitude towards everything CAL on here I have serious doubts about you. Your attitude would make working with you much more unsafe then the lack of tables .

That would be your choice....

What is it about the CAL culture that you identify with? What is it you like? And when you do the 'math', do you get a net gain?

Most times, I can't even finish printing flight plans until 15 minutes into the duty day. Flight plan for maybe, 10 minutes if there aren't any questions for dispatch or MX. If we have to bump the fuel, plan on another 10 minutes. That leaves less than 20 minutes to get to the plane and pre-flight. I've had a bunch of gate agents lately want to close the door 15 minutes prior, and I've only been in the seat for 2-3 minutes. They are not happy. Talk to Jeff about the report times.

If the company doesn't want to pay me to be there earlier, that's fine with me. As stated earlier, I don't do company work on my time. That is time negotiated by my union. If the company won't pay me, I don't work. That's not being unprofessional, it's called a job!

You do plenty of work on YOUR time, unless you have a different contract then the rest of us or you wait until after the door closes and the brake is released to start the brief. If your counting per diem as pay oh my.

There are things I like and don't like about both cultures. I hope to make the new merged culture a great one. It is hard thou with some of the attitudes. The I'm better than you attitude because you worked at a different company is divisive.
We would probably agree on most things that should be included in a great culture, but the constant bashing of another group would not be it?

True. And there's likely to be a lot more of this as the LUAL 75 fleet winds down.

There's no reason to not keep flying them other than the new management made the decision to buy 100 guppies with options for 50 more to replace the LUAL 757 fleet. Some are already on the property now.

Dave, this "gig" at momma U is not a job for me...it's called a career, which in fact is my profession. I've had cappies brief in the van, when its just the crew onboard ...makes for more time to grab Starbucks....point being, if 10 whole minutes of your time is that important, maybe you should start a resolution for the next cba about getting paid ( not per diem) for fmc loading, walk arounds, per flight set ups etc....

Are you a politician? Real line pilot answer is requested.

What specifically don't you like and do like about both cultures?
