He's still tormenting FO's? He's one of the reasons I took the left seat back in 05, to escape!

Oh I know. I was an island bum on the 73. Now it's all about QOL as I sit and watch the locals use the beach outside my hotel room window as a human litter box (Mumbai).

So you can sit at home for 75 hours pay, or fly 18 days and get paid 90. Because that 15 hours of pay is such a big deal.

And giving up 18 days off for an additional 15 hours of pay doesn't sound like a good trade-off to me.

Or you could find something else to do in those days off that also earns money, and lets you be with your family at night. You might even find you can make even more money.

I realize some guys are running their finances pretty right, but United Airlines isn't the only way in the world to make money.

After all we are all (98%) college grads....
Ironically, I will play the role of the choir in that sermon.

That is exactly what I do, I took some of my eggs out of the United basket when this whole exciting merger got going.

While I agree with you on the logic of the extra days worked versus extra pay, I don't want to judge the importance of the extra pay for somebody I don't know. Hopefully the movement over the next few years (trying to be an optimist) will allow folks to get to a seat that allows them to better balance pay and QOL issues to their own liking, and not have the whims of UA make a mess of their finances on a seasonal basis.

I understand that working another gig it is not for everyone (though I think you would be surprised if you tried) and for those folks that don't, not being able to fly as much as they want does suck.

If you can afford to live on 75 AND you don't have to put on your plastic pants too often and don't have to ride the UN Bus too often, etc, reserve can be a pretty sweet gig. 18 days of go get em BS per month for an extra 10-12 hours pay seems kind of oppressive to me, when and only when, they are fat on your seat.

To my mind the most heinous issues are the pay cut and more importantly the loss of the additional 16% of what you might have earned had you been pulling down 85 hour lines year after year. Those numbers will add up if you're a res maggot for a long time, as many of the blue teamers have been.

If you're not close, SC sucks and FSB is an absolute travesty. And now with the loss of transparency (CCS, FIFO, etc) it has gotten worse.

I hope you can still check the fit for duty box when they call after you have responded to a car wreck.

Ehh, I've got 13 hours to decompress. Obviously wouldn't do it on short call.
