Be careful with Uber. If you use them during 'surge' pricing times you can pay hundreds of dollars for a routine ride....ie raining/snowing/holidays

From the contract. Learn it early and often.

Thank you. I did read that part but I'm still unclear how we are actually paid for it? Do we file something on uSource? Is it automatic in our pay check?

If it is "Double Town" you will see a line item right next to the Pairing Pay on your Pay Register. Automatic ... you don't need to file unless you weren't paid which sometimes happens if the pairing extends over month end. It isn't in DH pay!

Uber has a $20 surcharge on all trips between NY and New Jersey. The quote online is $128... Why is that a good deal? I'm obviously missing something...

Yeah, no... When I checked earlier the basic (x) was quoted at $128... Guess I'll be trying the van service... If I ever get a class date!

Most of the van services than run on a schedule don't apply for being on Reserve in EWR (those only run on normal business hours.)
>80% of the open trip available to reserves in EWR are in/out of LGA, and generally involve a show of 4:45am and get done around 11pm - no line holder wants them. If they could adjust those flights to normal daylight hours (even giving the option of commuting directly into and out of LGA) those trips would not be so undesirable and dumped into open time so quickly. It's getting out of hand. As it stands, there are so many reserve pilots having to transfer between the two airports before 6am and after 11pm that it would be to the company's advantage if they just set up an employee bus to LGA at 4am and a return to EWR at 11:30pm. The bus would be full and with people standing. |
Just did EWR to LGA, on ETS. $30 each way, you end up getting an extra $140 or so for a trip start and stop in LGA as a EWR crew. Get the ETS shuttle at baggage claim in EWR at NJ Port Authority ground teams desk. Took 2 hrs because it went to JFK first. Not 24/7. EWR CP put out a blast mail about a 24/7 limo for $60.

What is the show time requirement for a LGA trip when on short call? If i can be at EWR within 2.5 hours, when do I need to be in LGA? The contract mentions that consideration will be made for showing at an airport that is not the primary base, but does not seem to give any other details.
