I think I am still missing something....seems folks still say go 73???

What you are missing is IAH being your end goal. It will be next to impossible to get IAH on the 756 for a long long time. You will guarantee your double leg commute for the duration of the 2 year seat lock until you can bid down. If you bid the 73, you double leg commute it for a few months then you'll be awarded IAH and reduce your commute. You can then bid the 756/76T at any time if you change your mind since in this case the seat lock does not apply. I know guys that have been here under a year on the 73 that have already gotten to IAH.

The party on the 76T is over folks.......Half of the 100 bids were filled

(Hint: they don't need 100 or even 50 more FOs in EWR on the 76T. The outcome of this bid is going to F@ck the companies staffing even more)

Those new hires that held a line will be solid reserves once again after this bid is filled.

It shouldn't impact the company at all. They posted the bids in EWR to open up hiring. They can now send new hires to the location of the pilots that are vacating bids to go to EWR 76T. Instead of a new hire going EWR 76T they may go to ORD 320 or 737 for example.

Ace, do you commute? Is it a commutable schedule? Do you plan to stay in EWR?

I live in Allentown, PA. 1hr10 mins away from home to parking lot in EWR.

Only one LHR flight has 730a show VS 4pm and later shows for the rest of EWR flying. JFK has 530a shows which obviously require commuting the night before.

With 50 more guys coming in on top this may cause bumps. The fleet is shrinking this year and they can only staff what they have for captains. Last I looked there are 48 in ewr on 76t and 105 FO. With 50 guys coming in and 50 new hires that's 200 FO. Anyone else see the problem with this?

No. Augmented flights on the 76T replacing the the B756 flights to Europe. Going through BAT training in IAH and the word is more 76T flying across the Atlantic. The B756 going to LAX for island flights.

Then they need more captains on it then.

Agree. In March there were 6 DCA based 76T captains TDY in EWR, I was one of them. That was just to cover the three EWR to LHR flights. TDY and W types trips from other bases is a small bandaid to the manning issues going on system wide at the moment.

JetBlast77 05-12-2014 04:27 PM

Its crazy to keep hearing about the manning issues when we have so many guys not flying in the junior fleets. Gline is in the 40s for the airbus in newark and we have 94 FOs. I know its a much different story elsewhere.

This is a true statement. Those of us that have been sucking the bottom of the reserve bucket on the 756 are coming over. Daddy needs to hold a line.
